Paris
The romantic atmosphere of Paris, along with its shops and restaurants,
attracts many visitors to this truly wonderful city. Paris is extremely
attractive to art lovers, shoppers, and anyone who likes good food.
For some tourists, a day at the Louvre or at the Musee d’Orsay is
a focal point of their Paris experience while some dedicated shoppers
will want to visit Rue du Faubourg St. Honore or Marais. The climate
of Paris is fairly moderate. The winter is warm and wet, and the
summer is not especially hot. Summer mornings are often cool, but
it gets warm in the afternoon. The rainfalls usually start in August.
The best time to visit Paris is from May to July or in the fall.
Most of the local population goes on vacation in August so expect
many shops and restaurants to be closed at this time. Paris has excellent
public transportation. Its Metro and buses are reliable and efficient.
Paris is a great walking city, and all you need for navigation is
a good map or a city guide, available in bookstores. Otherwise you
might find Parisian streets frustratingly complicated. Beware of
the traffic; cars do not always give way to pedestrians even on pedestrian
crossings. We hope our little overview will help you make your Paris
vacation unforgettable.
