Rome
Rome
attracts
millions of tourists each year. The city has an unusual grandeur
of scale along with the stunning
art and architecture. Its terrible traffic and extremely lively citizens
add to the picture. Rome is a city of living history. Christian churches
stand atop the ruins of pagan temples and new walls are build on
ancient Corinthian columns. Though the layers of ages are piled up
in Rome, the flow of city life is vibrant and forward. Don’t expect
that you could see Rome in just one day. You can devote a whole day
to visiting the ancient center of Rome – Campidoglio, designed by
Michelangelo, the Palatine Hill with its little museum, the Roman
Forum and the nearby Colosseum. If you’re looking for great sunset
views, it’s best to admire the panorama from the Pincio Gardens.
Overall, Rome is an exceptionally beautiful city, fascinating for
both its ancient and modern wonders. However,
some people might think the city is rather untidy and disorganized.
The best time to visit Rome in terms of weather are May and June.
In spring, the weather can be unstable, with clear sky in the morning
and storms in the afternoon. In July and August, the temperatures
rise above 85 F/30 C, and the humidity is high. As a result, locals
tend to flee the city by the end of summer. Fall is rather
mild but sometimes rainy. It’s actually a good time for touring around,
and the place is not so crowded. As for the transportation, the narrow
streets of Rome are fraught with scooters and local drivers are
far from being cautious. Moreover, parking is difficult and very
few parking garages are available. Most visitors prefer to walk the
city since everything in the historical center is within a walking
distance. If you’re tired, you
can take a taxi or use local metro or bus transportation.
